Decadent Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts

  1. Begin by rinsing your strawberries and gently patting them dry to avoid any excess water. 
  2. Remove the leaves and stems before slicing each strawberry in half, lengthwise.
  3. Place the two halves next to one another to form a heart shape and insert a toothpick to fasten the shape. 
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate in 30 second intervals, stirring each time in between until the chocolate is melted and smooth (time will vary on the power of your microwave).
  5. Line a sheet pan with wax paper and set aside.
  6. One at a time, place the strawberry hearts onto a fork and dip into the melted chocolate mixture, until the entire heart is covered with chocolate. Hover over the bowl for a few seconds, allowing the excess chocolate to drip back down into the bowl.
  7. Gently place onto the wax paper and repeat for the remaining strawberry hearts.

  8. Once all have been coated and are on the wax paper, place the pan into the refrigerator to chill until chocolate is dry to the touch. 
  9. After chilled, remove the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts for decoration.
  10. Use melted white chocolate or festive decorating icing to drizzle on top and add sprinkles if desired. Chill another few minutes to set any decoration.
